NewBeginningsAddictionAndRecoveryCenter

It is the policy of New Beginnings Addiction & Recovery Center that any individual who seeks treatment for alcohol and drug abuse will be assessed for treatment (ages 10 and older).  If the assessment illustrates that the participant is not eligible for treatment at this facility, the participant will receive the appropriate referral to address the issue presented.

In most cases, the agency will provide services for a fee, whether it is reimbursed by insurance or paid by the individual directly.  However, services are provided to both adult and minor participants, if payment arrangements are made.  Currently, we are accepting cash paying clients, only.

·         Our office personnel and/or counselor will work with the participant to determine eligibility for insurance reimbursement for services, and will provide assistance with applying for programs that will assist with payment for services.

·         Participants who can demonstrate financial hardship will receive a financial assessment and may receive services at a discounted rate, or at no cost for special cases.

For each individual participant, involvement with alcohol and/or other drugs, or alcohol and/or other drug-related problems shall be the primary criteria.  A DSM IV diagnostic code shall be assigned to each participant.

All potential participants shall contact NBARC (or someone shall contact NBARC on the potential participant’s behalf) to begin treatment.  This person shall be assigned an intake appointment time and date with a counselor.  The counselor shall determine the appropriateness for admission based on the Admission Assessment.

Admission Assessment Includes:

1.       An initial interview completed by the counselor and the participant in an individualized setting,

2.       A complete assessment of the physical condition of the participant by a review of the participant’s medical history, substance abuse history, and/or the most recent physical examination documentation.

a.       This assessment includes client’s self reported responses to Demographic Questions.  The next step would be to determine the extent of the severity of the treatment needed.  This should determine the appropriate placement based on the severity of the use.

3.       Identification of alcohol and illicit drugs used by participant’s self report in the Health Questionnaire (and during intake, and our Addiction Severity Index.

4.       Documentation of social, psychological, physical, and or behavioral problems related to alcohol and/or other drugs by participant’s self report.

5.       A statement of nondiscrimination presented to the participant informing that that admission shall not be denied on the basis of ethic group identification, religion, age, sex, color, or disability.  However, NBARC shall still have the ability to emphasize services for specific populations.  The participant shall sign acknowledgment of this statement.

NBARC shall address the needs of special populations, taking into consideration the disabilities, cultural, racial, linguistic, and sexual differences among such populations.  Whenever the nondisability-related needs of any applicant cannot be reasonably accommodated, efforts shall be made to make a referral to a more appropriate program.

If the intake process shows the participant is eligible to receive treatment at NBARC , the participant will be provided with an admission agreement form, which will be explained to the participant by the counselor.

Upon completion of the intake process, the participant shall sign and date the admission agreement.   A copy shall be provided to the participant and the original shall be placed in the participant’s file. After the admission agreement is signed and dated, the participant is considered admitted into the program.

After this step, the counselor finalizes a chart for the client, assigns him/her a client number (or makes note of an already-assigned number) and logs the date of admission, client name, and client number into our Client Log, kept with other confidential documents.

Completion of the ASI, Health Questionnaire, and admission agreement will take up to an hour to complete, so in most cases, a second intake/assessment session is scheduled.

Some people may not be desirable participants in our program. While our policies, procedures, practices, rules, and regulations are designed not to discriminate based on disability, all participants shall be physically and mentally able to comply with the program rules and regulations.

Individuals who are excluded from admission into the program include:

·         Those who exhibit behavior dangerous to staff, self or others;

·         Persons who are younger than 10 years of age,

·         Persons who have been terminated due to severe behavioral or other violations;

·         Former participants who have admitted, dropped out, then readmitted, and were terminated again;

·         Persons related to or otherwise having a close relationship with any staff member, or

·         Those who require an immediate medical evaluation, or medical or nursing care, as per health questionnaire results or counselor’s observation.
